Comedy Quiz (Free)
This complete quiz is themed around the world of comedy, and is provided free of charge so that it can be used to raise money for charity. Due to the fact that it is themed around comedy, it is particularly suitable for raising money for Comic Relief.
It is made of up 8 rounds as follows...
Round 1: Handout Round
This handout round is split into three sections where teams have to identify 5 BBC sitcom characters, fill in blanks to complete 5 jokes voted among the best at recent Edinburgh Festivals, and unscramble anagrams to come up with the names of 5 stand-up comedians.
Round 2: TV and Films
10 comedy themed questions on TV and Films, such as "In a well known series of comedy films, by what name is Douglas Powers better known?"
Round 3: Connections
7 general knowledge questions plus a final question, worth 3 points, looking for a comedy related connection between the first 7 answers.
Round 4: Just For Laughs
10 questions on the theme of laughter, such as "According to a well known proverb, who `laughs longest`?"
Round 5: Points Builder
5 questions with a comedy theme, where question 1 requires 1 answer, question 2 requires 2 answers, and so on until question 5 requires 5 answers. Each individual answer is worth 1 point.
Round 6: Initial Letter Link
9 questions on the theme of comedy where the answer to the final question is worth 2 points and can be spelt out by rearranging the first letters of the first 9 answers.
Round 7: Funny Ha Ha
10 general knowledge questions where the correct answers either start with or end with "ha".
Round 8: Double Trouble
10 questions on the general theme of comedy such as "On the TV show Red Dwarf, what letter did Rimmer have on his forehead?". A correct answer is worth 2 points, but teams can choose to leave any answers blank because each incorrect answer costs them minus 4 points!
The quiz is made up of 5 separate files as follows...
First of all there is a specially designed 2 page answer sheet that can be printed out and distributed to each team at the start of the quiz for them to write their answers on as you read out the questions. This also includes a round by round scoresheet to make it easy to see how each team has performed after all the answers have been marked at the end of the quiz.
Secondly, there is the handout round, which again is to be printed out and distributed to each team at the start of the quiz for them to work on straight away, and carry on working on throughout the quiz and during any breaks you have.
Next there is a 4 page sheet featuring all the questions in rounds 2 to 8 for you to read out during the quiz, along with all the answers to these plus the answers to the handout round to be used at the end of the quiz to mark everyone's answers. This also features 2 comedy themed tie-break questions to be used at the end of your quiz if two or more teams end up with the same score. There is also a "questions only" version of this included to give the quizmaster the option of taking part in the quiz by being able to see the questions without seeing the answers.
Finally, there is a 4 page sheet featuring detailed round by round instructions and notes, plus general advice and recommendations on running the quiz.
