This pub quiz handout round features nicknames that have been given to 15 different countries around the world. The names of these countries are also given (along with 5 red herrings) in a mixed up list, and the aim is to match them all up correctly. For example, Japan matches with the nickname "Land of the Rising Sun".
Some of these should be nice easy (like in the example above) to ensure teams get up and running on this round quickly, but some deduction and guess work may be needed to complete the round.
If there are any queries from teams taking part in your quiz as to how the countries got their nicknames, then all of this information is included in the answer sheets that come with this round.
While the information in this round could be used in a pub quiz to make up a standard question and answers (where the quiz-master asks questions aloud and the teams write the answers on blank answer sheets) it is recommended that this is used in a quiz as a handout round. Please note that this handout round also appears in Weekly Quiz 131. If you would prefer to purchase our pre-compiled full weekly pub quiz packs, then click here, where you can find quizzes with a handout round, 2 rounds on general subjects, a specialist subject round, a connections round, an initial letter link round, and a stick or twist round, as well as professionally designed answer sheets and full instructions on how to run your quiz. If, however, you prefer to use your own format for your quizzes, then this handout round should help towards creating an entertaining and challenging quiz.
If you buy this handout round, we will give you access to pdf files you can download. Two of these will be for the main handout sheet - one as illustrated above, and one in a more plain format. The third sheet will contain the answers. You probably already have everything you need to access and use these rounds in your quiz, but you might want to check our requirements page to make sure.
