Missing Lyrics - First Lines

This pub quiz handout round features the first lines from 15 famous songs, but with each having a word or phrase blanked out. The aim for teams in your quiz is to fill in the blanks to make up the correct full first lines. For example, the first line to Fernando by ABBA is given as "Can you hear the _____ Fernando?". This can be completed by adding the word "drums".

As in the example above, quite a few of these should be fairly straightforward and all of the songs should be well known to all teams. However, there are a few cases such as "______ loving in your eyes all the way" from the first line of Culture Club's Karma Chameleon, where teams are likely to know the song and the tune of the first line, but may not be so sure of the missing word or phrase.

These lyrics could be used to make up standard question and answer rounds, but we recommended that they are used as a handout round. For more information on handout rounds and our recommended use for them in quizzes click here
