Old Band Names

This quiz round features a list of 10 famous bands (The Beatles, REM, etc), a list of band names that they used to use before settling on the name by which we now know them,  and a list of facts about the band (eg. "Their drummer played the Mock Turtle in the 1985 film Alice In Wonderland"). The aim of the round is to match up the old band names and facts to the correct bands.

The facts here were carefully chosen so that most are unlikely to be obvious to which band they belong, but that it is obvious that there are a few bands on the list that they are very unlikely to belong to. This means that as well as testing people's knowledge in the world of music, it will also test their powers of deduction as they try to to match each fact with the correct band. For the old band names, there should be a few which people know, but it is likely that teams will have to rely on educated guesswork for quite a few of these.

While the information in this round could be used to make up standard question and answer rounds (where the quiz-master asks questions aloud and the teams write the answers on blank answer sheets) it is recommended that this is used in a quiz as a handout round as it is likely to keep people occupied and entertained for a reasonable length of time.
