In and Out Animals

The aim of this pub quiz handout round is to come up with 15 pairs of words from their definitions, where, for each pair, the name of a type of animal can be removed from the first word to give the second word.

For example, the correct answer to the clue “a criminal who plunders at sea / a type of pastry that consists of an outer crust and a filling” is “pirate" and "pie”, with the word “rat” being removed from the first word to give the second.

As in the example above, there are some easy clues to ensure teams can get up and running on this round quickly. However, there are also some tricky clues that could keep them puzzling over this round for some time.

While the information in this round could be used to make up standard question and answer rounds (where the quiz-master asks questions aloud and the teams write the answers on blank answer sheets) it is recommended that this is used in a quiz as a handout round.
