The first of two pub quizzes looking back on events from the year 2023, this quiz is particularly suitable for New Year's Eve parties and for quizzes run towards the end of 2023 or early in 2024. It takes on a similar format to that of our weekly quizzes and is made up of the following rounds...
Round 1: In Memoriam 2023
This picture round features photos of 15 famous people who died in 2023. The aim for teams in your quiz is to identify them.
Round 2: TV and Films
Ten questions on TV and Films from 2023, such as "In the film Barbie, which US state do Barbie and Ken arrive in when they leave Barbieland for the real world?"
Round 3: Connections
Nine questions on General Knowledge, plus a final question asking for a 2023-related question between the previous nine answers.
Round 4: Points Builder
Four questions themed around the year 2023, where question one is asking for one answer, question two is asking for two answers, and so on, and where each individual answer is worth one point.
Round 5: Sport
Ten questions on sport in 2023, such as "Which football team made their English Premier League debut in 2023?"
Round 6: Music
Ten questions on music from 2023, including "As part of his headline performance at Glastonbury, what was the last song performed by Elton John in his last UK concert?"
Round 7: Which Month?
Ten questions asking teams to name months from 2023 in which sets of events took place, such as "Humza Yousaf was appointed First Minister of Scotland; Jeremy Hunt presented his first budget; Liverpool beat Manchester United seven-nil in a Premier League match?"
Round 8: 2023 Mix
A final ten questions on the year 2023, such as "In April 2023, NATO's border with Russia doubled after which country became its 31st member?"
The pub quiz pack is made up of six separate files as follows...
First of all, there is a two-page answer sheet that you can print out and hand out to each team at the start of the quiz for them to write their answers on as you read out questions.
Secondly, there is the picture round. Again you can print this out and hand it out to teams at the start of your quiz for them to work on straight away, and carry on working on throughout the quiz and during any breaks you have.
Next, there is a six-page document with all of the questions for you to read out, along with all the answers to these and the answers to the handout round. This also features two tie-break questions to be used at the end of your quiz if two or more teams end up with the same score, along with a set of substitute questions to help you tailor the difficulty level of your quiz.
There is also another version of this six-page document, but where all of the answers have been removed. This may not be needed, but is included in case the quizmaster would like to take part in the quiz too.
Next, there is a four-page document with instructions and advice on how to run a great quiz.
Finally, there is a quizmaster's scoresheet to help keep track of teams' scores.
If you buy this quiz, we will give you access to pdf files you can download. These will contain all of the material described above. You probably already have everything you need to access and use these rounds in your quiz, but you might want to check our requirements page to make sure.
