This handout round features 15 sets of Scrabble tiles, with the letters removed and just the values of the tiles left, and where the aim for teams is to come up with the words from the NATO phonetic alphabet that fit these tile values. For example, the answer to the clue with tile values of "1, 3, 4, 1" is "echo", as the letter "e" scores one point in Scrabble, the letter "c" scores three points, the letter "h" scores four points, and the letter "o" scores one point.
Please note that unless teams have a good knowledge of both Scrabble tile values and the NATO phonetic alphabet, then they are likely to find this round tricky. However, teams should still be able to get some answers correct without a good knowledge of these subjects with the help of deduction and some educated guesses.
The information in this round could be used to make up standard question and answer rounds (where the quiz-master asks questions aloud and the teams write the answers on blank answer sheets), but it is presented so that it can also be used as a handout round. You can find more information on handout rounds and our recommended use for them in quizzes on our handout rounds page.
If you buy this handout round, we will give you access to pdf files you can download. Two of these will be for the main handout sheet - one as illustrated above, and one in a more plain format. The third sheet will contain the answers. You probably already have everything you need to access and use these rounds in your quiz, but you might want to check our requirements page to make sure.
