Lyrics - Christmas Hits

Especially suitable around Christmas time, this handout round features 20 extracts of lyrics from famous songs, all of which are associated with Christmas and have been top ten hits in the UK around Christmas time. The aim is to identify the title of the song along with the artist who first had a top ten hit with it (e.g. "Me, I guess I was a shoulder to cry on" = "Last Christmas" by Wham).

A number of these lyrics should be fairly easy to identify to get teams up and running on this round quickly, but this should keep everyone entertained for some time as there are some lyrics which should take a lot of puzzling over before getting the right answer and there might also be a few where people will recognise the lyrics, but not be able to place it in a song!

These lyrics could be used to make up standard question and answer rounds, where the quiz-master asks questions aloud, and the teams write their answers on blank answer sheets, but we recommended that they are used as a handout round.
