Movie Quote Initials

In 2005, the American Film Institute came up with a list of their top 100 quotes from the first 100 years of American cinema. The initial letters in 15 of these quotes are given in this handout round and the aim for teams in your quiz is to expand on the initials to give the full quotes.

For example, the correct answer to "H.L.A.Y.K." is "Here's looking at you, kid", which was a famous quote from the film Casablanca.

While teams should be familiar with all of the quotes when they hear the answers, some may find it difficult to work them out, just on seeing the initials, so along with the correct answers, the films from which the quotes were taken and the years in which the films were released are also given. So if you think that this round may be too difficult as it stands, you could use some of this information to give teams additional help.

The information in this quiz round could be used in standard question and answer rounds in a pub quiz where the quiz-master asks questions aloud and the teams write down their answers on blank answer sheets, but we recommended that they are used as a handout round.
