Mercury Prize Match Up

Mercury Prize Match Up

This pub quiz handout round is based around the Mercury Prize, an annual award given to the best album from Britain or Ireland. This was introduced in 1992, and this round features the titles of 15 winning albums. The names of the acts who recorded these albums are given along with 5 red herrings, and the aim for teams in your quiz is to match them all up correctly. For example, Pulp should be matched up to the album title "Different Class", which won the award in 1996.

This round is likely to prove fairly easy for people who are fans of popular music from recent years, but a few Mercury Prize winning albums are not so well known, and so, a bit of guesswork may still be needed if they are to complete the round.

While the information in this round could be used to make up standard question and answer rounds (where the quiz-master asks questions aloud and the teams write the answers on blank answer sheets) it is recommended that this is used in a quiz as a handout round. If you buy this handout round, we will give you access to pdf files you can download. Two of these will be for the main handout sheet - one as illustrated above, and one in a more plain format. The third sheet will contain the answers. You probably already have everything you need to access and use these rounds in your quiz, but you might want to check our requirements page to make sure.
